August and everything after...

Ok, so...if all of you who claim to read this ACTUALLY DO READ THIS, why are there still no comments? Especially you, Doug Faus...you're not even supposed to be getting the email!

I've given the website a new look, incorporating the new logo throughout. If there's anything you'd like to see, or see anything you'd rather not, let me know. If I don't hear any feedback, I'll assume I'm doing a wonderful job.

July has been a great month for golf, but not such a great month for the golf course itself. Luckily, we got a bit of rain and some cooler temps at the end, so that should help considerably. The grass dies a heckova lot faster than the concrete does, so try and keep those carts on the paths whenever possible.

I'd like to thank Kirk and Susan (and all other help they received) for handling the scheduling change on the 4-Couple Tournament. Padget was wise in suggesting the change, and Kirk and Susan were elemental in executing it. It was a warm one out there, but considering we would have been heading out for the back 9 around the time we were actually finished, it was a beautiful call.

I'd like to point everyone's attention to the August calendar, specifically Sunday, August 7th. The Parent/Child/Grandparent Tournament (formerly known as the Keeley-Swan Invitational) is loads of fun. I believe the format has officially been changed to 18 holes of two-person "best shot". Any combination (including step and in-laws) are eligible, so spread the word. There is a new defending champion from last year, and I noticed on the sign-up sheet that there are some newcomers that pose a serious threat to the title. I believe I can keep Keeley out of Ireland this year, so we should be able to give it a run again.

...And, the hottest golfer on the planet is...

...Sorry, Chigg. Two holes-in-one in two weeks trumps a Club Championship! Ok, ok...we'll call it a tie... Congrats to Chigg, Taco Bill, Swahili, Jarid, Randy, Kirk, Krieger and Shae...and to all who participated. I've never had so much fun finishing last (sorry you had to be my partner, Steve)!

We had a low turnout for the Club Tournament again this year...only 22 entries. I'm open to suggestions on making it more enticing to play. Do we need to make it earlier/later in the season? Do we need to tweak the format? Seriously, let me know. I'd like to hear from anyone who did not participate.

I would like to take this opportunity to speak to the masses (masses = the 4 or 5 of you who actually read this) about the importance of fixing ball marks on the greens and divots on the tees and fairways. The course is in beautiful condition for the weather we've had, and I'd like to see it stay that way. I've seen ball marks big enough to get a golf cart stuck in (minor exaggeration for effect) this year. Do we need to hold a "Divot-mending Instruction Course"? It's one thing to walk up to a green and fix your mark and one other, but it baffles me to walk up and see 6 or 7 of them that need tending to.

The Monday Night League had a fair turnout at Keosauqua this year. I don't have the final tally on the exact number that went, but I saw several friendly faces, and Roger Drish, while we were there.

One last note, to whomever keeps leaving Titleist Pro V1's in the rough on long nine: (Shhh, let's keep this between you and I, shall we?)
