March-ing into battle...

It's getting increasingly difficult to sit in an office all day, with the weather beckoning me to the course. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the 8 winners of the record Powerball jackpot, so here I sit.

The Super Bowling party turned out nicely, although I have to admit I was a little disappointed in finishing second. Once I found out I had the hottest bowler in the world on my team, I guess I was expecting a little more. Sure, I could point the finger at myself and my 145 opening game, but it's so much more fulfilling to blame Kirk. Plus, the Steelers won the Super Bowl (take THAT, Sara Setterstrom!)

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Miller reception. It was one of the few times we've been out together without the kids (although I'm sure many of you would have rather seen the kids...well, too bad). In case you missed it, I'll summarize it the best I can:
1. The most unusual toast ever.
2. Multiple pitch games
3. A couple of empty kegs

I missed the Daytona party, but I hear it was a blast. Barb must have contained her NASCAR Fever well (although I hear a certain Mr. Smith had a hard time containing anything that night).

On a somber note, we lost a friend and Board Member, John Steele. My thoughts and prayers are with Sandy through this difficult time. Sandy, I can't imagine what you have been through and I personally don't handle losses like this well, but if there is anything I can do, please let me know.

The Board voted in Sommer Lyons to fill the temporary vacancy until the Annual Membership meeting, when the membership will vote someone in for the remaining year of the term.

The Golf Committee will be meeting in March to assign Event Chairpersons for each of the golf events. We will have the golf calendar out with the April newsletter. There is still time to join the Golf Committee if you are interested! Most of the duties are organizational, and we will have guidelines in polace for each tournament, so there is no need to be shy!

Al Jones has finally defined the word "never" as being "25 years". Congratulations, Mush, for finally doing what we all knew you would, even though you denied it vehemently. I wouldn't miss this one for the world!

The Pitch Tournament/Fish Fry/Baked Goods Auction is coming up March 12th. The defending champ is still trash-talking...come out and take him down!
