Notes From The Bridge

GOLF
The 4th of July- it’s potluck time again. We will start golf this time at 11:00 a.m.! Sign-up single, couples or four person team and join in the fun. We will furnish burger, brats, and dogs, you bring the side dishes. We’ll eat when the golf is finished. The kitchen will be closed all day on the 4th!
The annual Heston Memorial tourney will be held 7/12. This is a 3-person best shot. It’s also a two shift tourney with tee times at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The cost is $36 per player and includes lunch. You eat after the morning shift or prior to afternoon play. This is a great fund raiser that benefits local charities. Get a team together and sign-up at the pro shop.
We have another 4-couple best shot scheduled 7/20. The cost is $30 per couple, tee time is 10:00 a.m.
We also have a new sign-in book for all non-members. Please have all your guest sign in accordingly.
If you do not have a current bag tag(they are gray), please see me or the bartender on duty.
CLUBHOUSE
Due to the new law our clubhouse will become non-smoking 7/1. There will be smoking allowed on the back patio (the open patio east of the hall, not the covered patio on the east side of the building).

CORRECTION: Smoking WILL be permitted on the east patio, until further notice. There was some confusion regarding the new law, but at this time we believe we are in compliance, ince Walton does not actually serve food outside.

Please try and use the ashtrays instead of the patio. Let’s try and keep it as neat as possible-thank you!
Thanks to Marge Manley and another anonymous donor (in honor of Ron Headley), we finally have new bar stools! They look very nice and sit even better!
THANKS
Thanks this month go out to Jeff and Sheryl Payne who cleaned #5 fairway after the last big storm.
Also Larry and I would like to thank everybody who worked on the flowers around the clubhouse and on the course-Joanne Hersh, Melva Dahl, Susan Booth, Loralee Brown, and Doug Alexander.
If I missed anybody, you have my thanks and apologies!

Notes From The Bridge...

GOLF
Golf season starts to dominate the notes and calendar. Now let’s hope the weather starts to cooperate! The Best memorial tourney was a huge success and I’m sure Brian was smiling! His family wishes to thank everybody who played and also those who worked to make it a success.
We had a great Memorial Day potluck-yours truly forgot we changed our starting time last year to 11 a.m. We will start 4th of July and Labor Day tourneys at 11-sorry folks!
We’ve added a 4-copuple best shot 6/8. Start time is 10 a.m.-cost is $30 per couple, sign up now.
Our 2-person Ryder tourney-the Good, Bad, & Ugly is 6/14, 10 a.m. tee off. It’s best ball, low ball, and alternating shot. The cost is $40 per team and always a big time.
Ladies Blast-off will be held here 6/19 & 6/20. Thursday evening is practice night and dinner with the main event on Friday.
Our club tourney is 6/28 & 6/29. You play 18 holes of qualifying Saturday with at least one other qualifier. We will try to have senior, men, and women’s flights. Tee times for Sunday will be assigned Saturday evening. We start Sunday play at 9 a.m.
THE COURSE IS CLOSED DURING THESE EVENTS!
KITCHEN
We are going to make some changes with our Mexican night on Wednesdays. You’ll see on the calendar we have listed some Mexican specials plus one regular Mexican night. This fall look for additional changes.
TIDBITS
Thanks this month go out to Melva Dahl for her work on the outdoor flower pots! Thanks everybody who helped top dress the greens! I also really appreciate the guys who did the grilling on Memorial Day!
PERSONAL NOTE!
We will celebrate my youngest son Jackson’s high school graduation 6/8 with an open house 2p.m.-5p.m. here at the club. Since he has grown up a “Walton boy”, you are all welcome to stop by and wish him well!
